There are certain places you get to know about which have you saying to yourself... I bet most visitors coming to Phuket for the first time don't know about this. It's just too good to be true. Well Mom Tris Villa Royale is one of those places.
I fell in love with Mom Tris as soon as I saw it. It was originally built as the private residence of one of Thailand's best known architects... Mom Luang Tridhosyuth Devakul. Everything he designs just has that indefinable something special about it.
This
is a resort where you can enjoy ultimate privacy in exquisite
tropical surroundings... where design, nature and architecture all
blend into one. You'll be treated as an honored family guest and not
just a customer!
It's located on a small headland of Kata Bay, between two of the most beautiful sandy beaches in Phuket... Kata Noi and Kata Yai. I go to Kata Noi quite frequently as it's more secluded and private than a lot of the other beaches in Phuket.
Probably the most obvious feature of Mom Tris Villa Royale is that it's distinctively Thai. A lot of resorts in Phuket could be anywhere in the world but this resort could only be located in Thailand.
It's difficult to know where to start when describing all the reasons why I love this resort so much. In fact I've been hesitant about talking about it on my web site because part of it's charm is that you often have the feeling that you're the only person staying there!
I've got to know the
manager, Khun Dan, very well and although his job is to let more
people find out about this beautiful place, I'd personally prefer it
to be "Phuket's best kept secret" and keep it to myself!
One of the first things you notice as you walk through the enormous hand engraved doors near the entrance of Mom Tris is the beautiful tropical gardens.
It feels more like a botanical park... with waterfalls, fish ponds full of Koi and small winding paths embedded with pebbles from the local beaches... than it does a resort.
Even if I'm not staying in the villas I often go to one of my favourite places in Phuket... the restaurant at Mom Tris. It's called Mom Tris Kitchen and I only go there on special occasions or if I want to show someone visiting Phuket, the best it has to offer.
Mom Tris Kitchen serves French and international dishes with a new twist of Mediterranean inspired salads and a fusion of flavours from east and west.
But
apart from the food, the view is spectacular. Imagine dining on the
edge of a cliff with the sound of waves crashing on the rocks below
and one of Phuket's most beautiful palm fringed tropical beaches to
your left, while you wine and dine in luxury as the sun sets slowly
in the west (see top of this page).
And finally... the rock pool. The very first time I saw this pool nestled in the rocks just below the restaurant, I just had to go for a dip.
On some days you can sit in the pool with the waves crashing over the sides and feel part of the beautiful natural surroundings.
Seriously... Mom Tris Villa Royale is one of the most beautiful places you can stay in Phuket and I have no hesitation whatsoever recommending it to my visitors.
