Phuket Weather... When Is The Best Time To Visit?

PHUKET WEATHER TODAY

Click for Phuket Weather, Thailand Forecast

TEMPERATURES

Phuket is very close to the equator which means the weather here is rarely what you would call cold by European standards.

The hottest months are April / May and September / October when temperatures range from 80°F to 95°F (27°C to 36°C).

The cooler months are from November through to March when average temperatures range from 75°F to 89°F (24°C to 32°C).

This is also when it's not so humid and cool breezes make the Phuket weather a little more comfortable.

Temperatures during the June to August period are between 70°F and 90°F (20°C to 33°C) and the weather is usually fine.

So you can see that you won't need to wear very much clothing while you're here. In fact I can't remember the last time I wore anything more than a shirt (and pants of course!)

RAINFALL

Phuket weather is what's known as monsoonal. The September / October period is the wettest but there are still long periods of sunshine in between the heavy showers.

June to August consists of brief but heavy showers and once again, still lots of sun when it stops raining.

Even during the hottest period of the year, April through to May, there are frequent, short, thundery showers which tend to offer some relief from the high temperatures.

Now before you think that Phuket weather is just about rain, keep in mind that these showers are usually brief and there is still lots to do irrespective of how wet it is.

Scuba diving, snorkelling, sailing, canoeing, game fishing etc are popular all year round. And of course there are still lots of restaurants to visit whether it's raining or not.

BEST TIME TO VISIT

It's always a good time to visit Phuket. The Phuket weather won't suit everyone all the time because visitors come from many different climates, so you'll probably have your preference.

I'd just like to give you a little more information which may help you decide when the best time is for you to come to Phuket.

If you enjoy cool, comfortable breezes as well as a tropical climate, and don't like the high humidity, then the best time to visit Phuket is during the cool monsoon season of November through to March.

This is called the high season in Phuket when prices are higher for accomodation and popular destinations are more crowded. It's also the European, Asian and American winter when people tend to want to escape freezing cold temperatures at home.

June to August is much quieter, the weather is usually fine, and everything is less expensive at this time of year.

Because September and October can be quite wet, the local residents often take off on an overseas vacation. So... if you really don't mind some rain and want to avoid the crowds, this can be an ideal time to visit. You'll probably come across lots of bargains.

I actually love the odd thunderstorm and really enjoy the rainy season so Phuket weather suits me the whole year round. It would get boring if every day was exactly the same.
